Iranian President Pezeshkian Issues Warning to Saudi Crown Prince: US Threats and Psychological Operations Will Only Create Instability

TEHRAN, Jan 28: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused the United States of conducting psychological and military operations aimed at destabilizing West Asia, describing Washington’s actions as part of a calculated effort to disrupt regional security.

Pezeshkian made the remarks during a telephone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday, emphasizing that US threats and maneuvers will only lead to instability, not peace.

“The threats and psychological operations of the Americans are aimed at disrupting the security of the region and will achieve nothing other than instability,” he told the crown prince.

The comments came amid the arrival of a US aircraft carrier in the region and recent threats from Washington, where US officials have accused Iran of violently suppressing protests. Pezeshkian highlighted a surge in hostility from the United States and Israel since the start of his administration, citing economic pressure, the 12-day military conflict against Iran, and alleged Western involvement in recent terrorist attacks that caused civilian and security force casualties as well as damage to public property, including markets and mosques.

“They imagined they could turn Iran into another Syria or Libya,” Pezeshkian said, adding that the Iranian people’s widespread presence on the streets thwarted these conspiracies. Official records show 3,117 people died during the recent riots, including 2,427 civilians and security personnel killed by terrorist groups, significantly lower than some Western media claims of up to 80,000 deaths.

On the topic of negotiations with the West, Pezeshkian expressed skepticism about their sincerity. “We were in talks with the Americans when they launched a military attack against us in plain view of the world,” he said, referring to the 12-day US-Israeli aggression. “For them, ‘negotiation’ means simply executing what they dictate. That is not dialogue.” He stressed that Iran remains open to international processes for peace, provided the rights of the Iranian nation are fully respected.

Pezeshkian also underscored the importance of Islamic unity, thanking Saudi Arabia and other Muslim nations for their support during recent attacks. He said solidarity among Islamic countries is crucial for lasting regional stability and peace, and that closer cooperation can help build a secure, developed, and prosperous West Asia.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman echoed these sentiments, calling any aggression or threats against Iran “unacceptable” and reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to regional security and collaboration with Iran and other partners to achieve sustainable peace.
