IRGC Claims Foiling US- and Israeli-Backed Unrest in Iran, Vows Continued Vigilance

TEHRAN, Jan 15: The Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) released a detailed report on Friday outlining its successful measures against a purported United States- and Israeli-backed campaign aimed at destabilizing Iran.

The report said nearly 400,000 public reports were received concerning security breaches, suspicious activities, and potential terrorist threats, which were prioritized and acted upon, leading in some cases to arrests.

According to the IRGC, its forces preemptively identified and confronted rioters and their financial, arms, and intelligence backers linked to US and Israeli intelligence agencies in a southern Iranian city. Teams associated with counterrevolutionary elements intended to seize street control across nine provinces were reportedly neutralized.

The organization also reported the arrest of the ringleader of a group tied to separatist ethnic factions planning terrorist attacks on two military and law enforcement bases along border areas. In addition, 31 dissident elements allegedly ready to cooperate with Israel’s Mossad were identified and confronted.

“Although popular and defensive efforts have thwarted the main objectives of the adversaries’ plan to create chaos, they continue to attempt to destabilize the Islamic Republic through international campaigns, financial and intelligence support to remaining terrorist elements, and cognitive warfare,” the report stated.

IRGC Major General Mohammad Pakpour, the Corps’ chief commander, issued a warning to the United States and Israel, describing the unrest as orchestrated by “Daesh-style mercenaries” under foreign direction. He named US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the primary architects behind the unrest and pledged a decisive response to any further provocations.

The report follows recent efforts by foreign-backed elements to hijack economic protests and transform them into violent unrest across the country earlier this month. The IRGC emphasized that it will continue to strengthen its intelligence and operational capabilities to proactively confront any threats to national security.
