WASHINGTON, Nov 7: US President Donald Trump announced that an international stabilization force, coordinated by the United States, will soon be deployed to Gaza as part of efforts to maintain peace following the ongoing ceasefire.

“It’s going to be very soon. And Gaza is working out very well,” Trump said on Thursday during a summit at the White House with the presidents of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan.

The president praised the current ceasefire, despite reports of intermittent violations by Israeli forces, saying peace efforts were “going well” and that Washington was working closely with regional partners to ensure stability.

“We’re coordinating with countries in the region; everyone wants peace, and we’re making sure this force will help maintain that,” he added.

Trump also confirmed that Kazakhstan is set to join the Abraham Accords, the series of normalization agreements between Israel and Muslim-majority nations. He said he hoped other Central Asian countries would follow suit.

“I think it’s great for peace, great for stability,” Trump said. “We’re bringing nations together that once didn’t talk to each other; it’s a beautiful thing.”

When asked about his scheduled meeting next week with Syrian President Ahmad Sharaa, Trump avoided giving specifics about potential discussions on the accords but praised Sharaa’s leadership.

“He’s doing a very good job. It’s a tough neighborhood, and he’s a tough guy,” Trump said. “We’ve made a lot of progress with Syria.”

Trump also highlighted progress on lifting sanctions against Damascus, noting that the decision came after requests from multiple regional countries.

“That’s a tough one, but a lot of progress has been made,” he said. “We took the sanctions off at the request of Türkiye, at the request of Israel, and a few others to give them a chance.”

On Thursday, the UN Security Council voted to lift sanctions on President Sharaa and Syria’s interior minister, a move expected to further ease tensions in the region.

Analysts view the deployment of a stabilization force in Gaza as a critical test for US diplomacy in the Middle East, coming amid broader efforts to sustain the fragile truce and expand regional normalization agreements.
