KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5:   A 17-year-old British teenager reported missing has been found safe in the city, Kuala Lumpur police confirmed today.

At about 5.17pm on September 4, a police team from the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department’s Special Investigation Division (D9) located the teenager, identified as David Renz Galletes Balisong, at a hotel in Jalan Pudu. He was in good health when found.

The discovery came after police received information from a man known as “Uncle Kentang,” who alerted authorities to the teen’s whereabouts.

Initial investigations revealed that David had left his home in Britain following a family dispute before travelling to Malaysia on June 6, 2025.

He was later taken to Cyberjaya Hospital for medical checks, where doctors confirmed he had not suffered any trauma or injuries. Police subsequently reunited him with his mother, and he will be flown back to Britain, as his visitor visa expired on September 5.

The case has now been handed over to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Criminal Investigation Department for further action.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief CP Dato’ Fadil bin Hj. Marsus expressed gratitude to members of the public who assisted in locating the missing teenager.

“The cooperation of the community was vital in ensuring the victim was found safe,” he said in a statement.
