KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on Muslims in Malaysia to emulate the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in their daily lives and strengthen unity to ensure the nation continues to progress on the global stage.
In a Facebook post in conjunction with this year’s Maulidur Rasul celebration, themed “Building a Civilized Ummah,” Zahid said the commemoration invites Muslims to deepen their faith and uphold unity as the foundation of a dignified nation, a moral society, and a blessed country.
“Alhamdulillah, this year’s Maulidur Rasul coincides with the 68th National Independence Month and Malaysia Day. The Prophet’s values of determination, patience, and love should serve as guidance in building a united, peaceful, and prosperous Malaysia,” he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof also reminded Muslims to uphold Prophet Muhammad’s leadership as the highest example in administration, justice, and compassion for the people. He noted that the Prophet built a civilization based on moral principles and trust, which remain crucial in managing a plural society.
“His Sunnah was not limited to ritual worship but also covered leadership, governance, and justice. By embracing good morals and transparent governance, we can reflect the excellence of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” he shared.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar encouraged Muslims to apply the Prophet’s morals in daily life through community activities, unity-building efforts, and spreading Islamic values of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (mercy to all).
“Maulidur Rasul reminds us of the Prophet’s mission as a bringer of mercy to the world. Building the MADANI Ummah means continuing this legacy by creating a progressive, just, and ethical society,” he said.
Other ministers also extended Maulidur Rasul greetings. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil prayed for Malaysians to emulate the Prophet’s noble character, while Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir highlighted the Prophet’s role in perfecting morals, upholding justice, and spreading mercy.
“May we remain grateful for our blessings and be among those who receive the Prophet’s intercession in the hereafter,” Zambry said.
