Putrajaya: Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day was celebrated in grand style today at Dataran Putrajaya, where more than 100,000 people gathered to reflect the unwavering patriotism and unity of the Malaysian people.

The celebration was graced by the presence of His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah. Also in attendance were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, the Deputy Prime Ministers, Cabinet Ministers, foreign ambassadors and consuls, as well as the Tengku Temenggong of Johor, Yam Tengku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

This year’s theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni” (Caring for the People), highlights the government’s commitment to prioritizing the people’s welfare while embracing MADANI values of unity, prosperity, and compassion.

The highlight of the day was a vibrant parade and procession featuring 14,062 participants. It included military bands, live demonstrations, armed forces vehicles, and contingents representing key sectors such as the economy, telecommunications, creative industries, sports, and security. A human graphics formation involving 2,000 students coordinated by the Ministry of Education (KPM) captivated the audience, while the Malaysian Armed Forces thrilled spectators with a bagpipe performance and aerial acrobatics.

The celebration concluded on a high note with a special performance by the nation’s beloved songstress, Biduanita Negara Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza, who delivered the official theme song for National Day and Malaysia Day 2025, filling the audience with pride and emotion.
