Mysterious Explosion in Russian Factory Kills 20, Injures Over 130

Ryazan: The death toll from a mysterious explosion at a factory in Russia’s Ryazan region has risen to 20, authorities confirmed on Monday. An additional 134 people have been injured in the incident.

The explosion occurred last week in a workshop inside the factory, located southeast of Moscow. Governor Pavel Malkov of Ryazan stated on Friday that the blast was triggered by a sudden fire inside the workshop. Details regarding the cause of the fire or the type of production carried out at the factory have not yet been disclosed by Russian state media.

Authorities have focused on rescue and medical efforts. A local emergency services agency reported via Telegram: “As of August 18, 20 people have died and more than 134 have been injured. Of these, 31 are hospitalized in Ryazan and Moscow hospitals, while 103 are receiving initial treatment.”

The incident has raised safety concerns, but investigations into the exact cause of the explosion are ongoing.
