PETALING JAYA: The 2027 school session for national and government-aided schools will begin on Jan 4 for both Group A and Group B states.
The Education Ministry (MOE) said the school session for Group A states will run from Jan 4 to Dec 2, 2027, while the session for Group B states will run from Jan 4 to Dec 3, 2027.
Group A comprises Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, while Group B comprises Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak and Selangor, as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.
The ministry has also coordinated festive holiday dates throughout the 2027 school session, covering Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Hari Raya Aidiladha, the Kaamatan Festival, Gawai Dayak, Wesak Day and Christmas.
“All schools must observe the additional holidays allocated by the ministry in conjunction with major celebrations, namely Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidiladha, Wesak Day and Deepavali.
“The additional holidays do not need to be replaced,” the ministry said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, the ministry said the 2028 school session will begin on Jan 3, 2028, for both Group A and Group B schools.
It said the standardised opening date is aimed at ensuring consistency in the start of the 2028 school session nationwide.
“The move is also intended to facilitate school administrative planning and enable teaching and learning activities to be carried out in a more organised and effective manner,” it said.
